 JARROW 2009

Congratulations to all who entered the NKA open competition in Jarrow on 11-7-09, a good day for all who entered and for some a first time competition experience

 out of 8 students who entered we brought back 13 trophies which included 3 first places 7 second places and 3 third places . 

Very proud day for the club , keep up the good work for the future !!

Andy Nesbitt Passes 3rd DAN 28th June 2009

On 28-6-09 Andy Nesbitt took his 3rd DAN grading hoping to pass and become a Sensei.  Andy has trained long and hard and gave all he could in the grading.  The result was announced infront of the club and Andy  was awarded his 3rd DAN by Sensei E Fraser and Sensei M Dobson.  The club was really pleased with Andy and everyone enjoyed the presentation.  The club would like to congratulate Sensei Nesbitt on his 3rd DAN success and are proud to call him Sensei.

North East Karate Championships Crowtree Leisure Centre 15-2-09

 

On 15-2-09 Pennywell Honto Shin entered the Tyne and Wear Open at Crowtree Leisure Centre.

All who entered did really well and some were unlucky just to miss out by one round getting to the medal stage.  The day was a great day out for the club and in the end the team kata came away in 3rd place and Tom Fraser came away with 3rd place in over 75 kilos kumite. Also well done to Connor Burn and Rhys Evans who entered the junior kumite and put up two good fights against there opponents.

 

100% Pass Rate At Pennywell 

 

Dan Gradings were held on 14-12-08 at Pennywell and there was an all round buzz when the three candidates came away with their belts. Pennywell Honto Shin would like to congratulate the three members who passed and also thank Sensei Mike Dobson 7th Dan for attending and overseeing the grading along with Sensei Fraser 6th Dan.

 North East Open Competition Sunderland  16-11-08

Team Kata champions again!!

On Sunday 16th October Pennywell Honto Shin Entered 4 members into the North East Open Competition in Sunderland, And after going through five rounds came away Senior Team Kata champions and also a thrid place in senior kumite. Well done all who entered.

Pennywell Honto Shin recently sent a senior team to the SKA karate championships held in Sunderland

We are pleased to announce the following results

Senior Team Kata 1st   -    Honto Shin

Senior Individual kata Joint 3rd   Andy Nesbitt and Thomas Fraser

Junior Individual Kata 3rd  Jordon Burn

Senior Kumite  Thomas Fraser 3rd

 

The last result was a hard fought one ,  after an error saw Jordon Burn miss out on his category he was permitted to enter the senior mens 18+ kumite  and at age 16 he took second place in the event ,   Well Done.

Sensei E. Fraser 6th Dan

On 25th of July 2008 Sensei Fraser was awarded her 6th Dan black belt, after 30 years of training, hard work  and support to karate.    An extremely high achievement held by only an elite few in the whole of the United Kingdom.

Congratulations to Sensei Fraser from all students at Pennywell Honto Shin.

 

 

  

Grading Results 

Members who passed their grading held on 16-3-08 at Pennywell Communtiy Centre Were:

Caitlin Potts  4th Kyu,   Christie Liddle 7th Kyu,   Rhys Evans 6th Kyu

Jola Cook 9th Kyu,   Connor Burn 7th Kyu

Congratulations to all who passed from all at Pennywell Honto Shin.  An outstanding performance from Caitlin Potts saw her gaining her 4th kyu (Purple and White Belt) , well done.
